Here
is the White Paper, written by IT In-Depth's Anura ['SNA'] Guruge
that fills in the details to Mac Devine's CCL/z interview --
featured on the right.

This
is a major update to the V1R2 White Paper that was available here.
This White Paper is also still available at
ibm.com -- if you would rather get it from there.
V1.2.1 makes the CCL/z even more attractive. With this release the
CCL/z ceases to be just a software-based replacement for the aging
37xxs. Instead it, with features such as integrated DLSw and XOT,
also offers some key SNA modernization options. The CCL/z v1.2.1 is
a bit less than an actual 37xx but at the same time offers a
bit more!

CPU savings with

IPSec with zIIP assist

IT
In-Depth
Recently I was asked to
take a look at a 3rd party end-to-end
tunneling
option for z/OS FTP. From what I could see it worked but
I really couldn't justify promoting this scheme over
z/OS IPSec -- and that was before I learned about the
new zIIP assist for IPSec. I got talking to some of my
IBM contacts and they kindly provided me with this great
presentation by Michael Fitzpatrick.
[See 'pictorial' ê]
I am sold. But I am told that it is difficult to find
IPSec clients for Unix, Linux, Windows that work with
z/OS. IF you run into this contact ME
é.
I'll help you.
