Hardware-based platform independence is no longer an oxymoron. With the i5 it is possible to have AIX 5L, "OS/400", Linux and Windows, all at the same time, on the same server. This combines the IBM pSeries and iSeries servers into one all purpose mid-range that is powered by POWER5 processors - the successor to the all conquering POWER4. So the power to sustain this muti-personality machines is not an issue.
